Solo was spotted at the  New York Fashion Week after party of  designer Alexander Wang  rocking this hat from local South African designer Babatunde. As we know already solo was recently in SA to shoot her new Music video. I am not feeling this look much but that's the beauty of Solo right? she can mix and match anything she wants and does not care at all . You too can rock your Babatunde's hat .I will do a post about their work right after this post .So what say you ? Yay or next ?

 Its that time of the year again, NYFW is in full swing right now and my job is  to find celebs that are rocking pieces from our fave African designers. Angela has been a big supporter of African fashion. She previously wore pieces from Virgos Lounge here and here and even from Jewel by Lisa here. I love Angela not only because  rocks pieces from our faves but because she is seems to be a very nice , down to earth girl. She always looks good. What say you  ?  Yeah I know I am Coucou about Solo but you should know that by now. I have been following updates about her like a hawk since I learned that she is in SA shooting her new video "losing you". I posted pictures about that yesterday. Anyways according to timeslive Solange fell in love with pieces from South African designer  Loin Cloth and Ashes collection. She  is going to be wearing about 6 pieces from Loin cloth and Ashes  for Elle South Africa photo shoot. Solo you look very lovely ...... Thoughts ?

How did you start in the Music industry ?
Growing up I saw the power of music at work among my family members and within my South African community. The elders would play music night and day and I observed what it could do to a people, but did not understand how. There were songs of struggle that seemed to give words to what people were feeling but could not articulate. It seemed to comfort those who could not express their pain. It seemed to give people an escape from their undesired reality. I was intrigued by this and wanted to be able to do the same - - make people feel that they could express their emotions when my music played. By the age of 18 I had my first demo.

Starting off I was signed to be the new face of R&B and Soul in a Kwaito label. I put out my first album All My Love in 2003. In 2006, I signed with Sony Africa to re-launch myself and further grow into the industry - I went on to release albums like Soul in Mind, Feel Good, Return to Love and Rise Again.

 Rapper Nas was recently interviewed by complex magazine about his upcoming   tenth studio album "Life Is Good" and his new outlook on life after splitting with singer Kelis. The photoshoot  was styled  by stylist to the stars June Ambrose. As soon as I saw this picture I know he was rocking an african print shirt and was praying to god that it was from an actual african designer. After a few minutes of digging i found out that the shirt was actually by designer  Woolrich Woolen Mills. I really love the shirt on Nas. It seems like he has not aged one bit. He look like the same guy from 10 years ago. 

Yep Yep I love  how my friend in my head ( like Wendy Williams would say ) Incorporate African  fabrics in her outfits from time to time. Spotted these pics on Naturalbelle today photographed by Claiborne Swanson Frank  for book American Beauty which  a compilation of some of the most stylish fashionistas. I wonder who else made the cut .

 This fashion week and awards season I have my eyes open to bring you  all the celebs rocking our fave designers. I feel like I only been posting about Jewel by lisa in the past 2 weeks. From lala's cute skirt to June Ambrose lovely jacket and now Angela Simmons beautiful Jbl Clutches. Yep Angela Simmons owns not one but  two Jewel by lisa's clutches. I love Angela because she loves wearing pieces from African designers. She previously carried a clutch from Urbanknit and wore Virgos lounge several times.

Tika Sumpter was spotted wearing this cute mud cloth inspired dress at the the W Hotel in L.A.with celeb friend Estelle. I can't see the back of the dress  but I which the dress was just a little longer maybe or shorter. Nonetheless love it when when i see anything african inspired in Hollywood. I will find try to find  the name of the designer.

Yesterday Kim K tweeted a pic of her and the lovely entrepreneur Lala Vasquez Anthony at Market America World Conference at the American Airlines Arena in Miami which I posted on ciaafrique's page yesterday.She sported  this cute ankara skirt by Ciaafrique's fave Nigerian fashion house Jewel  by lisa. The skirt  is very similar to the one Catt Sadler wore a few months back.  I think she really rocked it but I would have loved it better without the blazer.  What do you think ?

This is what I think Miss Ciara should wear the day she decides to step out in print.Within the last years Ciara has really worked on her image and tried to move a bit away from her tomboy-ish looks. She has a beautiful body and she's  not afraid to show it. We know she loves everything short from skirts to shorts shorts. So this skirt from Eshe and Dalia (only 30 Euros) paired with a white shirt  with black lapels would absolutely work on her curvacious body. The lovely ladies of one of my fave blog shopliquorice spotted Michelle Obama wearing this beautiful sleeveless multi print silk by Nigerian designer Duro Olowu. Michelle Obama is for sure a big fan of the designer work because we've seen her over and over wearing these lovely dresses. I can't wait for more celebrities to embrace the work of our fabulous african Designers.
