African fashion has come a long way. African print is no longer only used in Africa but all over the world.Lauren Bush is an American designer and she on the spotlight today because of the above collection. This collection reminds me of my home country Mali and the way we dye our fabrics. Iam absolutely in love with the color coordination and the designs. The Lauren Pierce collection is made with environmentally friendly fabrics that are of the highest quality as well as handcrafted fabrics from artisans around the world.Who is a Lauren pierce woman? EVA DUB AFRICAN INSPIRED COLLECTION

 ABOUT THE COLLECTION
"The collection I’m currently promoting was developed in 2009following a volunteer project in North Uganda where I had the opportunity to work with an association of women who had survived the civil war and Kony rebels and had HIV or other diseases. With the support of Fondazione Corti whose aim is to raise funds for Lacor Hospital in Gulu, I designed and produced a fashion and accessory collection using fabrics that had been hand-dyed by those women and Real Wax fabrics that are easily found in Uganda. In creating the collection I mixed the traditional African style with Italian elements so as to be able to market and sell the pieces also in Italy and Europe." Source

EXPECT TO SEE A FEW AFRICAN PRINT PIECES IN YOUR LOCAL H&M NEXT SPRING

Thanks to  Koura for giving me a heads up on this one. So after collaborating with Lavin and Versace H&M announced today that they  will be  collaborating with Marni Next ( Am I the only one who never heard of Marni?). As you can see on the pic above we can expect to see a few pieces made from African print fabrics.I am not that excited because the last two times  I could not find anything that fits me  anyways. H&M is one of my favorite store  however this worries me bit. It worries me because I feel like it will take business from African fashion designers that use print of course. This is the reason why you should not limit yourself to only African print. when stores like H&M starts selling African print at affordable prices a lot of people might switch #justsayin.
 Any thoughts ?

WHAT IS MICHELLE OBAMA WEARING ? DURO OLOWU

If you follow ciaafrique then you must by know that I am a  big fan of the style of Mrs Obama. I can relate to her on so many levels. I am as tall as she is and i know hard it is to find clothing and shoes when you are big and tall let alone find it and look good in it. We've seen pictures of Michelle Obama within the last year wearing pieces from the one and only Nigerian Top designer Duro Oluwo. She wore this printed top  a few days ago in New Orleans where she visited the Royal Castle Child Development Center . She not only wear her clothes but  she also recycles them. Meaning that she wears them more that once to go to public events which is a No-No in the world a celebrity. I really don't see anything wrong with wearing the same item twice because it shows that you are just like anyone else. Maybe wearing a dress to the Oscars and then to the golden globes is a no-no. Anyways below are more pics of her wearing this top to a previous event.

Ciaafrique loves the fact that more and celebs are rocking African print but i can't say it enough please support the African designers as well.
