President For Life which was started by Egya Appiah is a premium menswear brand that fuses traditional design and cosmopolitan sensibilities while supporting meaningful trade with Africa. All of their products are limited editions and handmade in Ghana. The prices vary from $35 to $40. I am thinking this is a good gift idea  for the hubby or boyfriend. DESIGNER SPOTLIGHT: BUCOLIC BOMBSHELLS

latest nigerian kitenge dress designs

Eugenia Osei-Asante is a Ghanaian-born American designer and an entrepreneur. Asante is the designer of Bucolic (www.bucolicbombshells.com) and the founder of "The Bucolic Foundation" (Sow a stitch, Save a child), a Non- profit organization in Ghana that supports underpriviledged children. Asante discovered her passion for designing very early when she was only four years old. Her mother had bought her a small sewing machine and Asante was hooked. Instead of playing with the other children or even with dolls, she would usually be home playing with her mini sewing machine and try sewing cloths together.

LOOKBOOK: NAKIMULI INTRODUCES NEW COLLECTION

  naKIMuli

I've been wanting to feature Brooklyn based line  naKIMuli for while now and really I was  happy to receive their latest collection a few days ago. NaKIMuli is known to make beautiful and very funky designs with african prints. Lets learn  a little a about the designer shall we ?

Owner + designer Tennille McMillan established Nakimuli Inc in 2009. Tennille's first love is modern dance, which may explain her love for jersey fabrics. Growing up in the hoods of Bushwick and East New York, Brooklyn, Tennille always stood out as "the weird one" with her unique style of dress. But she used that to her advantage and began teaching herself how to sew after graduating from high school at age 16. Tennille developed her skills by making clothes for family members and costumes for fellow dance students at Hunter College. After graduating with a BA in dance, Tennille decided to pursue designing clothing instead of dancing professionally. That is when Nakimuli began to take shape. Tennille still designs naKIMuli in her hometown of Brooklyn, NY.

This collection is also available in Plus Size check out  more pics below and don't forget to visit   www.nakimuli.com

CAN'T FIND ANYTHING FOR HIM ? 8 CUTE AFRICAN INSPIRED GIFTS FOR YOUR MAN

I have decided to dedicate this week  to father's day. So I will introduce you to a few African designers that design for men. Even though 90% of ciaafrique's readers are women I am sure we all have men in our lives whether its our fathers, brothers, boyfriends or husbands that we buy gifts for . My father is far away from me therefore  he will only  get  a phone call to wish him happy father's day. I still have to help the kids with their gifts. I am really bad at buying gifts especially for men , I always worry about buying the wrong thing and lets be honest when you are with someone a certain amount of years you kind of run of ideas.  I found a few items  that i like and that you might want to add to your list  next time you shop for the man in your life . Happy shopping !

INTRODUCING LIBERIAN DESIGNER ARCHEL BERNARD

 According to the designer

"It’s Archel as a clothing collection began a few years ago when Archel Bernard returned from her hometown of Monrovia, Liberia with about 30 dresses to sell to her friends in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. The dresses completely sold out because Africans and African Americans in the States were all excited to have a piece of fashion from West Africa. Now Archel develops more and more ready to wear styles to sell in Liberia and in the United States. Each piece is simple, fun, affordable, and one of a kind. No one will ever have the exact same dress in the exact same cloth, similar to a true tailoring experience in Liberia. The best thing about the shop is that each piece is handmade by a Liberian woman, which means each purchase helps lift a girl your age from the ashes of war through her work. Now, everyone with any budget can have a piece of contemporary West African fashion."

Salut tout le monde,

I have not done my braids this small since I think 2001 or something.  For me these are really tiny but the good thing about it is  that it only took 3 hours to finish it. Yes that is a dream !!!!!. The two women that did my hair were so fast I  could not believe it when they told me my hair was finished.  Here is what I am wearing
