Morrocan designer Jamila Lafquir presented her new collection during the Annual Vlisco Fashion show in Cotonou Benin.  I am not a big fan of using Ankara  to make caftans but take a look at the full collection below.

DESIGNER SPOTLIGHT: MANOIR COLORE

Manoir Coloré label de pagne africain en france

I am currently loving Manoir Coloré, which is a French based label by Bayi de Souza. I found them Via Tumblr however I could not find much about the designer. Here is how they describe the line on their Pinterest page:
" NO MELANIN FREE, French handmade refined and tribal fashion design". Designer, artistic, Manoir Coloré reinvented fashion defying its conventions, creating a refined tribal fashion. Manoir Coloré followed no rules, epitomising the very modern values of cultures mixity and passion.

CAN'T FIND ANYTHING FOR HIM ? 8 CUTE AFRICAN INSPIRED GIFTS FOR YOUR MAN

I have decided to dedicate this week  to father's day. So I will introduce you to a few African designers that design for men. Even though 90% of ciaafrique's readers are women I am sure we all have men in our lives whether its our fathers, brothers, boyfriends or husbands that we buy gifts for . My father is far away from me therefore  he will only  get  a phone call to wish him happy father's day. I still have to help the kids with their gifts. I am really bad at buying gifts especially for men , I always worry about buying the wrong thing and lets be honest when you are with someone a certain amount of years you kind of run of ideas.  I found a few items  that i like and that you might want to add to your list  next time you shop for the man in your life . Happy shopping !

AFRICA FASHION WEEK DAY 1: MATAANO, MARIANNE FASSLER, STEPHANIA MORLAND

Ayaan and Idyl Mohallim the designer behind Mataano brought us back to spring/summer   at the Africa fashion week with their collection filled of tropical colors. The models walked the runway floor length dresses,  floral  rompers  and jumpsuits, full  and knee  length skirts.  The collection was very chic and playful  and  definitely set the standards very high.  You can learn more about Mataano by reading my interview with them here and check out their previous collections
