I  found the Nakate project via twitter and  introduced them for the first time a few days ago here. Shanley Knox, started the Nakate project to help women in a small village in Uganda have a better life . Here is a bit of her story .

 In 2010, we met a 7-year-old named Cossy Nakate. Suffering from AIDS, orphaned and living in a small African village called Kakooge, Cossy impacted us in a way we couldn’t stop thinking about. We shared our lunch with her. We started paying for her food every month. But it wasn’t enough. I saw these cute bags yesterday on Afrolectic and after a few clicks I found these pics from their facebook page. This is the work of  Australian based designer Wanyika Mshila(Kenyan). According to their site FroQ AfriQ was born from a marriage of African culture with western style.Their signature items are sophisticated, elegant and classic hand crafted leather bags and accessories, designed and made in Australia.

Her inspiration comes from her  trips to  Africa where she recovers and transforms materials and objects in order to create unique pieces or limited series.All of her pieces are handmade , part in France  and another part directly in Africa by local craftsmen.

 My girl Bee from Chic Therapy  just launched her very own accessories store.  I followed her blog since the beginning and seen her making her own  headbands, earrings and necklaces and always asked myself "why isn't she selling these?" The items are available  here check it out . 

 I have been in love with the accessories of Free rebellion  for a while but had yet to  post about the label. F.P.R. is all about incorporating the African aesthetic in your everyday wear through accessories. All the fabric is from home (Africa), everything is hand made, and partial proceeds go to a charitable organization called Children's Comforting Yard. I visited their site today and came upon their new collection and thought I should share it with you.
