HVS and Toju Foyeh celebrate a successful showcase at their private collection preview event during New York fashion Week

Lagos, Nigeria (September 2011) — Emerging designers Toju Foyeh and HVS by Bukola Are celebrated a successful preview of their Spring /Summer 2012 collection on September 16 at 320 Studio, 320 West 37th St 14th Floor, NY, NY 10018 7 pm. Fashion enthusiasts, editors and notable designers showed support to both designers at this first duo collaboration. The event also highlighted two budding designers that were a part of the show with their handbags; O’eclat and Jidz. The synergy with these four designers worked perfectly to make for an engaging show.“Toju Foyeh’s eponymous label is a prime example of an international line poised to hit it big time…”- Cora and Chloe, A-linefashion.com

Toju Foyeh opened the show with one America’s Next Top Model’s most memorable model Aminat Ayinde in a red evening gown. Season 4 winner of America’s Next Top Model Naima Mora was Toju’s headline model for the evening. Toju Foyeh unveiled 15 pieces for her new Spring/Summer collection. They were bold, evocative, conservative yet revealing; the pieces highlighted her signature cocktail and evening dresses that are sexy, ambitious and elegant with the use of lace, silk, chiffon and damask.
“It was challenging planning a show in a different country to a different audience. I put my heart into this collection and I can genuinely say, I enjoyed the entire process. I worked with an exceptional team, everyone was very professional and it made all the difference in the world. I sincerely had a great time, and was humbled by the reviews immediately following the show.”-Head Designer of Toju Foyeh, Toluwaloju Olowofoyeku

Nigerian designer Toju Foyeh “Rebirth L’or” Collection

I have been a fan of  the work of the lovely Nigerian designer Toju Foyeh since 2007 when I read about her on Bella Naija's blog. I also followed her progress along the years  and this is by far one of my favorite collection. It is hard for me to choose a favorite piece , but I have to go with "bussy" only because it translates so much to the current trend of the blazer, love the Golden color and fits with my Personal style. When I ask Toju about her inspiration behind the Rebirth l'or collection here is what she has to say :

2011 Arise Magazine Fashion week(Lagos): Day one

Arise Fashion Week officially kicked off yesterday in Lagos Nigeria. This was one of the most anticipated African fashion shows of the year so far. There was some mixed feeling on the first day because shows were moved in the last minutes , lack of Pr but nonetheless the excitement was still in the air.It is indeed difficult to get any type of info or pictures about shows taking place in Africa .This time, the team of fashion Africa was there to keep us up to date via twitter and their website. I have selected 3 of my favorite pieces from each of designers but you can see the entire collection of each one here. I could not help but notice some familiar faces in the modeling industry :Ajuma Nasenyana ( have not seen her in a while) Flaviana Matata, Georgie Badiel, Aminata Niara, Nana Keita, and many more .... Enjoy !!!
