I reported back in October the very exciting news about the collaboration of Nigerian designer Duro Olowu and American retail giant JCpenney. Now we can all take a glance at what is waiting for us next March. The collection includes shoes, handbags, clothes and a few home items which will be available both in store and online. Almost nothing is over $50 but one thing I am not sure about is the size of the garments . What is the biggest size for these pieces ? This is a very exciting news indeed. According to Fashionista  JCPenney just announced a “seasonal collaboration” with London-based Nigerian designer Duro Olowu.The line will be available in JCP stores and online from March through May 2013 and includes women’s clothing and accessories, as well as a home line–think dinnerware, stationery, and decor.

If you follow ciaafrique then you must by know that I am a  big fan of the style of Mrs Obama. I can relate to her on so many levels. I am as tall as she is and i know hard it is to find clothing and shoes when you are big and tall let alone find it and look good in it. We've seen pictures of Michelle Obama within the last year wearing pieces from the one and only Nigerian Top designer Duro Oluwo. She wore this printed top  a few days ago in New Orleans where she visited the Royal Castle Child Development Center . She not only wear her clothes but  she also recycles them. Meaning that she wears them more that once to go to public events which is a No-No in the world a celebrity. I really don't see anything wrong with wearing the same item twice because it shows that you are just like anyone else. Maybe wearing a dress to the Oscars and then to the golden globes is a no-no. We all know by now that Michelle Obama loves her Duro Olowu. She been spotted during her trip to Africa this jacket from the Nigerian designer fall 2010 collection and also this Over sized sleeveless shirt from the Asos Africa 2011 collection .

The lovely ladies of one of my fave blog shopliquorice spotted Michelle Obama wearing this beautiful sleeveless multi print silk by Nigerian designer Duro Olowu. Michelle Obama is for sure a big fan of the designer work because we've seen her over and over wearing these lovely dresses. I can't wait for more celebrities to embrace the work of our fabulous african Designers.
