LOOKBOOK: MODAHNIK FALL/WINTER 2012 COLLECTION

INSPIRATION

"The Modahnik Fall Winter 2012 Collection has a vintage feel to it. It's an ode to my late mother, who had the coolest style in the 70s and 80s during Congolese' fashion heyday. A time when Congolese musicians such as Papa Wemba dressed in an elegant fashion and initiated “Les Sapeurs” movement. I really wanted to experiment with the intersection of masculine elements presented in a feminine sophisticated way; Its all in the small details, the pleating, collars, sexy cut-outs and pockets that adorn the dresses, as seen in the Double collar dress and the Pleated Sleeve Coat Dress." Kahindo Mateene

ROCK THE PRINTS! ASOS AFRICA LATEST KITENGE COLLECTION IS TO DIE FOR

This summer will be all about prints and I am excited for the new Spring/summer collection from the  Asos Africa line  which launched only a few days ago on Asos.com. The look book  its an explosion of prints (kitenge and Kanga)and bold Colors. The line which includes 21 pieces has something for every print lover  from cropped  tops to beautiful kitenge dresses, shorts, skirts and shirts.  This collection just like any Asos Africa collection is made in collaboration with Soko kenya  and a  portion of each purchase goes to support local communities in Africa.  The prices start at $45.The only disappointing part about all of this is that the biggest size from the collection i could find was  a size 14. So if you are bigger than that you can just admire the collection from far( Sad face). I hope the Asos Africa team thinks about adding more sizes to their future collections.
