Unless you've been living under the rocks the last couple of days you might have heard or read about Beyonce's controversial pictures for the french Magazine "L'officiel". To tell you the truth some people are taking this photo shoot too seriously.The thing that bothers me is this " why didn't they choose an African(or Nigerian) designers to style the singer instead of Gucci.I chose these two pictures because this are the one that are closer to a tribute to Fela Kuti (Africa)as it can gets.Where did they get this outfit from? It looks like mudcloth from Mali to me or is this part of Gucci's last collection too? No matter how you feel about this issue I think we should just focus on better things in this world than to worry about what Beyonce does to make money.Beyonce is getting free publicity , and the Magazine is known all over the world now what do we as African gets? NOTHING.I rather focus my energy on how to make my country and Africa a better place. Don't get me wrong I love Beyonce because I think she is very talented but at the same time she is human maybe this was a mistake on her part or just a way to grab our attention.

Anyways what is your take on this ?

  5. Yes@Ciaa Sell Sell Sell!
    @Beauty is Diverse I did not know Vlisco was African
    @Malika it was voluntary
    Maybe it is something with the "L" and "B" lol?Remember the L'Oreal ad her skin was manipulated and so many other black pop artists go through the same issues of photoshop "Lauryn Hill,Tira,etc. I personally don't take offense, and I think the only people that this should bother is the models that don't get work because of pop stars. I expect it we are still speaking of the fashion industry, and beauty is not so diverse as one would think.

  7. I'am white so I am not in the same shoes and even trying to be . I went to different parts of Africa and know that there are all colors in Africa. they should have just let her be herself instead of trying to change her appearance . she is black already therefore no need for a black face

  13. When are people going to learn that Africa has no "face". It is an extremely diverse composition of people with different skin tones and features. What the did to Beyonce is nothing new. I think what many people, including myself take issue with, is the need for these people project what THEY think an African looks like.....dark face, etc. There are countless Africans with Beyonce's skin tone in Africa.
