FUNLAYO DERI LAUNCHES HER SPRING/SUMMER 2012 COLLECTION

Introducing for the first time on Ciaafrique Funlayo Deri . Born in Nigeria, Funlayo Deri is a London/Budapest based fashion designer.  Her design aesthetic is influenced by her mixed cultural experiences and exposure and is a manifestation of her eclectic background.  She believes that clothes should be glamorous and elegant but not overly serious, and so her designs exude glamour and elegance, but are yet modern and stylish in an unconventional, striking way.  She also believes that clothes should always be created with exquisite fabrics, fine craftsmanship and great attention to details .The Funlayo Deri woman is confident, sophisticated, captivating, with refined taste, a woman with a strong sense of style who is not afraid to stand out from the crowd.  She is passionate, cultured, loves life, new experiences and uses fashion to express her personality and mood.

The label is for savvy fashionistas who value quality and craftsmanship, and are seeking timeless investment pieces that will see them through several occasions and seasons. When asked about the inspiration behind the collection  here is what she had to say

The inspiration for the Spring/Summer 2012 collection comes from contemporary architectural structures. Elements of rigid, edgy structures were combined, then transformed to softer, fluid lines and placed in ways which complement the female form. The juxtaposition of different silhouettes, colours, fabrics and textures was used to enhance the clarity of each design. Produced in silk, taffeta, organza and delicate, embroidered lace and chiffon, the latest collection features exquisite dresses, trousers, shorts and jackets in different shades of nudes, metallics and bright colours.

Thanks to Funlayo for sharing this beautiful collection with ciaafrique. I am so looking forward to upcoming ones. If you want to know more about this line or check out previous collection  please check out her website http://www.funlayoderi.com .
