My Girl wambui just finished her new collection. She was kind enough to tell us a bit about the inspiration behind the collection ."Embroidery was used traditionally to finish fabrics and add color and beauty. By adding modern trends and cuts with embroidered fabric a new collection was created. Since I was going to be first showing this collection at the coastal town of Malindi I wanted to make sure it was light, brightly colored and celebrated a woman's form. African fashion should be an evolution into a futuristic dynamic look with its roots in our cultural fabrics, accessories and colors. I also added the metallic power suits to my previous collections. These power suits were inspired by the "super women" on the continent of Africa. were business women, wives, mothers and do it all without complaining. I made them in metallic pink and silver black to portray a kind of armor and elegance that we have to portray in our everyday lives. I also added the siri shirt dress to the TRIBE collection to replace my signature mini dress/dress shirts that was sold out."
