Arise Fashion Week officially kicked off yesterday in Lagos Nigeria. This was one of the most anticipated African fashion shows of the year so far. There was some mixed feeling on the first day because shows were moved in the last minutes , lack of Pr but nonetheless the excitement was still in the air.It is indeed difficult to get any type of info or pictures about shows taking place in Africa .This time, the team of fashion Africa was there to keep us up to date via twitter and their website. I have selected 3 of my favorite pieces from each of designers but you can see the entire collection of each one here. I could not help but notice some familiar faces in the modeling industry :Ajuma Nasenyana ( have not seen her in a while) Flaviana Matata, Georgie Badiel, Aminata Niara, Nana Keita, and many more ....  Model Selita Ebanks Rocked this dress made by designer Madam Wokie’s Couture during a recent visit to Sierra Leone. Madam Wokie by the way will be showing at the Arise fashion week next week. 
 ANTM winner Krista white wore this signature dress from Cameroon's fashion label Kirette couture on the carpet of BET Rip the Runway.

I really thought the whole turban trend would not last long , but I was wrong.The turban trend is for sure one the biggest trend of this season from magazine covers, to the catwalk ,to Celebrities and the side walk Its everywhere !!!! Access Hollywood Reporter Shawn Robinson wore this beautiful blue dress from Ivory coast designer Christiane King at the 2011 Academy Award in Los Angeles. The dress is part of her 2011 spring/summer collection .In Case you are not familiar with the work of Christiane please check here and here .
